Music is Big for us at Grace

We are blessed to have many musical talents at Grace. As of October 2009 we have no less than 4 different music groups for adults and a kids choir! That said, over half of our services is following a traditional setting from the Lutheran Songbook, with organ accompaniment for the hymns we sing.

As for the music groups, here is a brief description of each of our music groups.

Some of our groups play at other churches in the vicinity. Please be sure to inquire if this sounds like an interesting idea to enrich your worship life - thanks!

Joyful Noise Worship band

"Joyful Noise" is Grace Lutheran’s oldest contemporary worship band.  It is a team of music loving Christian brothers and sisters who enjoy praising God with music.  Instruments have included piano, organ, keyboard, acoustic, electric and bass guitar, flute, recorder, mountain dulcimer, drums, congas, and various other percussion instruments.  Sounds a little like Psalm 150, doesn’t it?

Our objective is to “usher worshippers into the throne room of God”.  We approach our task in all seriousness, prayer, and a great deal of joy.  We enjoy selecting music from Integrity, Maranatha, Hill Song, contemporary artists, the Lutheran Hymnal, and have even written some of our own! "Psalm 100" is our theme song which helps keep us humble and focused.  Very important for us: We need to be Lead Worshippers, not Worship Leaders. May sound like a pun, but it makes all the difference.

"Joyful Noise" practices Sundays after the main service. Practice begins at 12:30 PM.

If you are a member of another church and you'd like "Joyful Noise" to be a part of your church's service please consider inviting us over! Please contact the church office for details.

Adult Choir

The mission of the Adult Choir is to minister the word of God though His gifts of voice and song. We use traditional literature for all church seasons spanning many musical periods, genres and styles.

Many choir members have various backgrounds in singing, but all share a love of music and the Gospel. Just as God assures us that there is a place for all of us in His family, there is an open place for you in our choir family. We invite new singers, young and old, regardless of musical ability to join us in singing with a true heart and mind for Him. As Psalm 33:3 so wonderfully tells us, “Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy!” This is most certainly true for us!

We rehearse together every Thursday beginning at 7:00PM. We enjoy spreading our ministry through music in traditional Sunday services twice a month, including special additional literature for the Christmas, Lenten and Easter seasons. As music ministers, we love to sing with instrumentalists and soloists (children and adults), especially for Christmas and Easter!
Please contact the church office for additional information. As Paul writes to us in Ephesians, “Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord.” We would be truly blessed to have you share your passion for ministering God’s Word, and make music from your heart with us.

One suggestion: Please call the church office before you come in the first time - just to ensure that practice isn't cancelled for some reason. - We look forward to meeting you!

CrossFire Worship Band

Crossfire is a youth and young adult praise band which plays contemporary Christian and praise music.  Formed in the fall of 2000, Crossfire’s early influences were Sonic Flood, the Newsboys, and Point of Grace.

Today their repertoire includes music by Christian artists like Chris Tomlin, Steven Curtis Chapman, Third Day, Paul Colman, and Newsong.

Crossfire leads contemporary worship services at Grace Lutheran as well as “playing out” at other venues, including the Sad Café in Plaistow, the annual Walk for Life at Greeley Park in Nashua, and various benefit concerts.

The band currently has 9 members, with 6 vocalists, 2 guitars, bass, keyboards, drums, and a fiddle! If you’d like Crossfire to play at an event or benefit, please contact Jeff or Sharlene Peterson at 888-7579 or e-mail us at sharnjeff@gmail.com

Praise 'n Harmony

"P 'n H" is an acapella group singing  Christian barbershop music. Currently a soprano, an alto, two tenors and two basses, we are actively looking for a second soprano. We practice using training CDs and you will find this type barbershop a lot easier to sing than you think. So don't be scared by high-end performances you may have heard by professional groups: We are good, but then again we're lay people just like you!

Won't you join us? After the Summer Break we'll resume practice on Wednesday nights at 7 PM in Grace's sanctuary. Please contact the church office and leave a message for Mick G.

PS: Praise 'n Harmony would be delighted to be a part of your worship service or Christian event, too. Be sure to inquire at the email above.

PPS: We could never decide whether the "'n" stands for "in" or "and". Please tell us what your preference is.
